Infant Examinations & First Visits

Infant Examinations

At Pediatric Dentistry and Orthodontics of Jackson, we understand the importance of getting your child set up for success as early as possible. We also recognize how scary those first few visits to the dentist can be for your infant. We work hard to provide a safe and caring environment for our tiniest patients.

The First Visit

Once your child’s first tooth appears, it is recommended to take them to the dentist within six months. We will assess for proper eruption of baby teeth, dental decay, and any signs of early problems with your infant’s oral health during this visit. We will also discuss any habits that your infant has that may affect the health and development of their teeth, such as thumb sucking or pacifier use. We may suggest specialized care necessary for your infant’s oral health, including brushing and flossing habits and diet modifications. After your first visit, our dentist and staff can work with you to create a plan for routine follow-ups and examinations so that your infant has all the dental care they need from their first tooth into adulthood.
